Meet Hira Qazi

Author, illustrator, and the heart behind AaoSeekheinUrdu.

Why I Made These Books

Urdu was the language of home for me — the language of bedtime stories, of my parents' voices, of everything warm and familiar. But when I started reading to my own children, I couldn't find books that worked for our family. Most Urdu books assumed you could already read the script. We couldn't — not fluently — and neither could many of the aunties and grandparents who wanted to join in.

So I made something different. Books where Roman Urdu sits right alongside the Urdu script, on every single page — so anyone in the family can pick up the book and read it out loud, no lessons required.

About the Books

Let's Learn Alif Bay Pay grew from the simple words I use every day with my kids — words for animals, food, family, colors, feelings. I wanted those words to feel joyful to say, not like homework.

My First Urdu Rhymes collects six original rhymes — the kind that are fun to say out loud, that stick in little minds, that a toddler will ask you to read again and again. Every rhyme has both Urdu script and Roman Urdu, so the whole family can join in together.

About AaoSeekheinUrdu

AaoSeekheinUrdu — "Let's Learn Urdu" — is built on one belief: that heritage language learning should feel like a gift, not a burden. Our mascot is the Chakor, the national bird of Pakistan, a symbol of devotion in Urdu and Persian poetry. It felt right.

These are our first two books. We hope they are the beginning of something much bigger — a library that grows with your family, in a language that connects you to where you came from.
