Hello! I'm Hira Qazi. I was born in the vibrant city of Karachi, Pakistan, and moved to the United States at a young age. I completed my education from middle school onwards right here in Maryland, eventually earning a Master's in Business Administration while navigating my corporate career.
Stepping into a new country meant a new life, a new culture, and new friends, but one thing remained beautifully constant: my connection to our roots and the Urdu language. Even though I moved to the US at an age when I already had a strong grasp of Urdu, it could have easily lost its place and value in my life, but what kept it alive was our home. It remained the language we spoke — filled with daily conversations, stories, cultural shows, and music. Those sounds became a living bridge, creating a deep sense of belonging and pride that is irreplaceable, beyond time or distance.
The Birth of AaoSeekheinUrdu
When I became a mother, I knew with absolute certainty that I wanted my son to grow up understanding and speaking his maadri zabaan (mother tongue) with that same deep love. However, finding high-quality, engaging Urdu books and materials for a more enriching experience felt like a struggle.
This disappointment sparked an inspiration, leading me to start my own brand of bilingual Urdu-to-English books for growing minds and bilingual families, with the intention of bringing the Urdu language into their homes and hearts. Our bilingual books are crafted to make learning Urdu feel natural, joyful, and effortless for young learners and families at all levels of Urdu exposure.
Mission Statement
AaoSeekheinUrdu — which translates to "Let's Learn Urdu" — is built on one core belief: that learning a heritage language should feel like a gift. It is a gift that promises to keep our children connected to their roots, learn about their heritage through language, and strengthen family bonds across generations.
